Former Federal Drug Prosecutor

Jorge Vela spent three years as an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) in the Southern District of Texas.  As a federal prosecutor, he was in charge of investigating Mexican drug trafficking organizations that smuggled large quantities of narcotics across the U.S. - Mexico border.

He worked closely with special agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), the Department of Homeland Security, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and U.S Customs and Border Protection.  As part of investigations, Jorge also consulted extensively with drug experts, forensic chemists, and forensic computer analysts.

After handling hundreds of complex drug investigations, Jorge acquired insight into the best way state and federal drug cases can be challenged in Court.

How can Jorge Vela fight my case?

Fourth Amendment Protections

The Fourth Amendment of the United States protects everyone from unreasonable search and seizures.  If an officer did not have reasonable suspicion for a detention or probable cause for a search, your attorney may be able to challenge the admission of any incriminating evidence gathered by officers.  If the search is found to be illegal, this may potentially lead to a reduction of charges or dismissal of the case.

As a former prosecutor, Attorney Jorge Vela knows exactly what to look in order to challenge an illegal search or seizure by a police officer.   Regardless of what a police officer finds in your car, your home, or on your person, you need a lawyer that will PROTECT your rights.  Contact the Law Office of Jorge Vela for a free consultation.
